      butter,    Butter,     BUTTER!

Why Butter?"   That is the most commonly asked question asked of me.  It all started about 12 years ago. The American Dairy Association advertised for a new "butter sculptor" for the New York State Fair.  The Fair's Butter Sculpture was an icon I had been fascinated with for years.  The opportunity to have my hand at it seemed like it could be a lot of fun!    I sent in my credentials, created a small sample piece, and the rest is history.

I discovered through experimentation butter was much like working with temperature-sensitive clay.  There were a few challenges, however it lent itself to an opportunity to create whimsical life-size sculpture.  Sculpting in butter was a chance to expose the public to fine art.   After all, it was Rodin who said, "For a man to be complete, he must have Art, Science, and Religion in his life".
